Te Whāriki Te Tai Tokerau 2024

In March 2024, I attended an event organised by Te Whāriki Te Tai Tokerau at the Waitangi Treaty grounds. The kaupapa was to inform, inspire and connect Māori businesses and professionals who live in or whakapapa to Te Tai Tokerau.

There was a fantastic line up of speakers covering a range of topics including:

  • Marcus Winter aka ‘the Sandman’, a leading sand artist, who spoke about his journey www.thesandman.co.nz
  • Heeni Hoterene, an educator and facilitator, who spoke about the maramataka Māori www.maramataka.co.nz
  • Miraka Davies, a plain english writing guru, who spoke about the importance of self-love www.mirakadavies.co.nz
  • Rewi  Spraggon, a hāngī master, who spoke about carving a new path for hāngī www.hangimaster.co.nz
  • Georgia Latu, young New Zealander of the year in 2022 and founder of Potiki poi www.potikipoi.co.nz
  • Summer Brons, an entrepreneur passionate about safe tanning products www.summerbrons.com
  • Eric Rush, ex All Black and owner of New World Whangārei,  who spoke about making his way in the supermarket business.

It was a day of celebration, inspiration and connection.
