The kura reo spanned five nights with separate akoranga given by seven leading kaiako from the North. Attendees also had the benefit of hearing from the Mayor and four Māori councillors from Far North District Council about their experiences to date and both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Te Taumata was conducted almost entirely in Te Reo Māori using northern mita, so it was a great way to consolidate and build on my prior Te Reo Māori learning while supporting the revitalisation of the northern mita.
